The Waterhouse hotel

The Waterhouse hotel is definitely a place to visit when you are Shanghai. The hotel is a four-story, 19-room boutique hotel built into an existing Japanese Army headquarters building from the 1930′s. The Chinese architects NHDRO have transformed this building within the concept of a clear contrast of what is old and new.
Lots of concrete and brick walls and a new Corten steel extension on the roof. NHDRO was also responsible for the design of the hotel’s interior, which is expressed through both a blurring of the interior and exterior and between public and private spaces.
A stunning and beautiful hotel with a great design and interior pieces, a great use of materials, industrial and modern creating an inviting space…
